But when was the last time you stopped to appreciate that - and really take yourself in? (It’s okay if it’s been awhile)
Remember when you were little and had boundless curiosity and unstoppable confidence? Remember getting lost in your imagination and play - and the joy it created? Chances are it’s been a long time since you’ve felt that way…
The Sensory Creativity Institute helps you rediscover and unleash your creative genius through play, curiosity and artistic exploration.
We help you reconnect to yourself, so you can once again see
Ten years ago, I was burnt out - and secretly bored - of the “successful” business and life I created (at least it looked successful on paper). I’d built a multi-6 figure tech consultancy and was the go-to for top corporations, including Fortune 500 companies.
Caring for and saying goodbye to an aging parent, while also coming to terms with the end of a 12-year romantic relationship.
I felt isolated, overwhelmed, and deeply alone.
It became clear my old path to success was no longer sustainable.
To regain balance, I pursued certification in wellness coaching, hoping to manage the growing stress of my consulting practice while improving my health. While these tools provided some help, they didn’t provide the healing I really needed.
Something was missing.
It took time, but I realized I had lost the very thing that had helped me thrive throughout my life. It was creativity.
Art, design and creativity were a major influence in my life. My grandfather created portraits of wildlife and humans. He also had a regular gig as Mr. Buttons the Clown. I grew up watching him create and share his creative genius.
My dad restored and built cars - really fast ones! My mother had been a fashion model before I was born and I regularly flipped through her portfolio as a kid.
I, too, became an international fashion model in my early teens. I worked closely with masters in their fields like photographers, make-up artists, hair artists, stylists, and art directors to co-create works of art.
Looking back, I see we had the luxury and safety to play, experiment and push the boundaries.
In the early 2000s, I began working in the tech sector, implementing customer relationship management software and tools. In 2007, I launched a successful consultancy, using creative problem-solving to troubleshoot and build solutions for my clients.
Yet, the playful spark that had once fueled me was gone.
After experiencing deep personal loss, followed by the isolation of the pandemic, I knew it was time for a new path. One that brought together the science of psychology, the practice of wellness, and the transformative power of art.
My research centers on healing loneliness and fostering connection through art - specifically through portraiture sculpture. I’ve discovered isolation and burnout are widespread among women, especially those in leadership or pioneering roles.
But creativity holds the key.
Reconnecting with our senses and embracing creative expression can combat isolation, repair social bonds, and restore joy. This transformed my life and opened up a new vision for how I would help others.
By blending art, science, and play, we unlock the potential for more women to lead with courage and joy.
